The main uses for stack stone are on building facades, columns, feature walls inside and out, fireplaces, fountains. Stack stone creates interesting visual and textural effects. Here are 4 of the most popular varieties.

1. Traditional Stack Stone

The first type is “traditional stack stone”. It is basically natural stone that’s cut into small pieces. Usually 150mm high by 600mm long made up of 4 or strips of stone of consistent thicknesses. This type of stackstone is the most popular.
See the example above.

2. Montage

This style of stackstone has various sized stones placed together to create a random look. Some have an interlocking style to help hide the fact that they are still a repetitive size panel. Furthermore, people call this style “montage”.
See the example above.

3. Ledgestone

Thirdly, there is “cement backed stack stone” (some call this “ledgestone”). It is thicker than the traditional stack stone. Allowing unique size pieces to be put together, however this can create more weight. Perfect for use around a fireplace resulting in a magnificent look. Example above.

4. Stack Stone – Wall Cladding

The forth style stack stone is “cladding”. Natural stones cut into bigger individual pieces of 150 x 300mm and 250 x 600mm. With chiselled edge surfaces or split face finishes highlighting the beauty of the stones. These products are a great way of imitating the old brick look popular with Sydney siders.

Recently added to our range is ceramic stackstone and porcelain stack stone. Therefore, the look of these products is more consistent in colour and size. Ceramic stack stone requires little to no maintenance. So, when it comes to stack stone, we at TFO carry a great range of the best wall cladding styles at Sydney’s best prices.
